Quality assurance

The two packing facilities have their own in-house quality control personnel, and Môrester’s export company partners also provide quality control service for the grapes in the packhouse during harvest. Prior to dispatch and cooling, each consignment of grapes for export is inspected by PPECB (Perishable Products Export and Control Board), the South African government inspection services on site in the pack houses.

Traceability

Môrester has thorough traceability systems in place that start in the vineyards during the harvesting process and continue through the packhouse. The traceability markings are indicated on the packaging, thus accompanying the grapes to the consumer. These systems have been implemented to ensure that the farm has a fully traceable trajectory of movement of the grapes from the vineyard to the consumer.

Certifications & Audits

Môrester maintains global fruit industry standards with respect to food safety, hygiene, and ethical standards. To achieve and maintain these standards, the farm’s facilities and systems are regularly audited to ensure compliance with these standards. In addition to SIZA and GlobalGAP, Môrester is certified for the major industry standards.
